PERSONALIZATION Challenge for the future conference
15 June 2013, Porto - Portugal
Mentaur Ltd
In 2007 The Government published “Putting People First”, a shared vision and commitment to finding new ways to improve social care in England.
This paper outlined the Governments vision of enabling individuals to live independently and have complete choice and control in their lives.
To further analise this subject, Mentaur Ltd will be organizing a conference, in Portugal, regarding personalization in social care. The conference entitled "Nothing about me without me", will be held in Fundação Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda in Porto, Portugal.
Mentaur Ltd was invited to present a workshop on Creative approaches to improve
specialist residential services at BILD's conference. This workshop aimed to encourage people to look at how to differentiate residential and support services through the application of innovative and creative approaches which help to justify the label: ‘specialist’. By hearing about some of the initiatives Mentaur is pioneering in its own services, including the use of technology and the implementation of research into enhanced quality, attendees were encouraged to think about how to make their own services stand out.

My Life as I get older - age, autism and wellbeing
Friday 3 February 2012
Event organised by The Mentaur Group and BILD
The Mentaur Group, along with The British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) organised a national conference on the many issues surrounding autism and ageing. The event was developed under the premise that as we age, our needs change and, as people with autism age their needs change too.
The conference was held on Friday 3rd February 2012 at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Milton Keynes.
Quality research into these changing needs is sparse, but what there is confirms our need for a better understanding of these issues. Organisations and individuals involved with supporting older people with autism have few opportunities to enhance their understanding and knowledge of this subject.
This important national conference on autism, ageing and wellbeing provided exactly such an opportunity. The day included presentations from leading national figures in the field and practical workshops to share ideas and examples of good practice
